O Holy Night

O Holy Night

I have to admit that I can listen to the song " O Holy Night " at least 20 times in a row near Christmas time because of the message it brings .  Singers like Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Amy Grant can bring us as close as we can to that eventful night when Christ was born and his host of Angels announced it so brilliantly.

The time had come to announce the greatest gift ever.  The hope of a weary and tired world hung in the balance.  In an expression of majestic love a host of angels was sent in the night sky to the humble shepherds to declare that God was sending his only Son to make his dwelling among the people God had created.  To the common worker came the noblest and most glorious musical announcement ever to fall upon  the ears of mankind.

Set against the backdrop of a crystal clear and starry night, the Host of Angels sent from the very throne of God put on a concert of praise to the shepherds in the field.

Christ the Savior is born to you tonight  !  A hope to the nations, a gift to the humblest of men in the most difficult of places.

The words of the song speak the message best.

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

Break out your favorite singer's rendition and give it a listen.   Revel in the message. You are valued by the King of the Heavens.  fall on the knees of your heart and worship him in this season.

It'll be like you were there in the fields with the Shepherds yourself.

Merry Christmas !

His Servant,

Jeff
