(NIV) Ephesians 6:15
[15] and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Mobility is the lifeblood of a soldier. The mission of the soldier directs his feet in the path that works toward his most important goal of defending his cause and winning the battle. Protecting the feet, enabling the feet, and making sure that they are equipped with the best of apparel to meet the challenges before them. When a soldier needs to move to accomplish a task, they cannot be worried about how well their shoes will hold up, or if they will have a problem with them.
Can you imagine a football player taking the field without cleats, but rather with dress shoes ? Or how about a Basketball player who decided to wear cleats instead of tennis shoes ? I think you get the picture. Without the feet fitted with the proper attire for the goal in mind, the outcomes are less than desirable.
As you consider the statement by Paul in Ephesians 6:15 (Above) he recognized that the key to our spiritual mobility was the fundamental message of the Gospel of Peace solidly locked in mind, thus allowing our feet to move when needed. The truth of the message we act on enables us to move through our spiritual battles with confidence and readiness.
So in life, what makes us ready? What battles are the greatest battles we face that should cause our feet to move?
The very core message here, is we spiritually battle for all things that would distract from the message of the Gospel… That Jesus Christ died for our sins, and brought us peace with God. That is what should move our feet in any situation…
What would bring ultimate peace… What will ultimately resolve conflict…. And if you think about it, that is what a good soldier is all about.
Matthew 5:9 says “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God”
James 3:17, 18 Says “But wisdom that comes from heaven is first of pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace, raise a harvest of righteousness.
So, be equipped with the right “Shoes” for the right battle. Feet carrying the knowledge of the Simple, Life-Changing, Freedom Giving, Gospel of Peace.
May God richly bless your week.
His Servant,
Jeff
