If My People Pray
Somewhere in our country
The great old USA
There lies a heart of courage
To restore our freedoms for which we pray
We came from lands far away
Seeking God's inalienable rights
Written down in faith by brave men
Their protection worth the fight
Adversity and evil tried to beat us down
And rip our dreams apart
But the nation who put their trust in God
Still stands, but with tattered heart.
Tattered by the drugs and violence
Among young children in our land
Searching deeply for answers
Found only in God's plan.
Further worn by the loss of lives
In the battles we have fought
Because freedom isn't free
With a price it has been bought
Running tired from divisions
That rip throughout the land
Wondering what it was
That made this country grand
There is a promise from our maker
That if we will humble be
And spill our troubles before our God
By praying together on our knees
God would send his Spirit down
To move among his creation
And through his mighty outstretched hand
Would bring healing upon our nation
The healing that comes with kindness
Blessing neighbors with our speech
Giving to the poor our resources
And with compassion teach
Teaching of the way God values
All the world that is in his hand
And learning well to listen
To his eternal plan.
Jeremiah 29:11-12 (KJV)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
[12] Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
